Igniting the Spirit Across the Seas: Celebrating 50 Years of ASEAN–New Zealand Dialogue Relations

C asean, in collaboration with the Embassy of New Zealand in Bangkok, proudly presented “Igniting the Spirit Across the Seas: Celebrating 50 Years of ASEAN–New Zealand Dialogue Relations” — a cultural showcase that brought together Māori, Thai Song Dam, and Nora performances in a celebration of partnership and shared heritage, with the support of Thai Beverage Public Company Limited and One Bangkok.

From the powerful Kapa Haka performance by Te Whirikōkō o Rangitāne of Aotearoa New Zealand to the graceful movements of Thai Song Dam and the vibrant storytelling of Nora dance, each performance illuminated the spirit of cultural exchange and connection between New Zealand, Thailand, and the ASEAN community.

Marking the 50th anniversary of the Dialogue Partnership between New Zealand and ASEAN, the program underscored a shared commitment to regional cooperation, inclusivity, and mutual respect. This aligns with the Common Cultural Heritage initiative, which embodies our mission to foster understanding through culture and creativity — in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and celebrating the richness of diversity that inspires future generations.

Together, we celebrate not only 50 years of ASEAN–New Zealand partnership but also the enduring people-to-people ties that continue to bridge nations across the seas.
