May 1: Happy International Workers’ Day!

International workers’ Day is celebrated on May 1 to recognize the laborer and the working class for their contribution to the society and economy. It is a public holiday in many ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia, Lao PDR, and the Philippines. Labor sector plays an important role in building economic growth. ASEAN is the third largest economy in Asia, and the fifth largest in the world after the US, China, Japan, and Germany. According to Statista.com, as of 2021, Indonesia's labor force is over 140 million people. Agriculture, fishery and forestry sector remains as the key source of jobs in ASEAN.
