Participants will get to see the overall picture of “The ASEAN Smart Cities Network”: Understanding on the structure of ASEAN smart cities framework, how to collaborate and get support ASEAN’s external partners, and mechanisms to meet the current and future ASEAN challenges in order to promote economic and social development alongside environmental protection while creating new opportunities for people.
Trends Affecting the Development of a Smart City
To better understand the smart city trend, this session will define what smart cities really look like, and offer case studies detailing the ways in which cities are implementing smart sustainable city projects. These case studies will focus on what the initiatives are, how they are organized, structured, administered, and how the communities can get engaged in its development and implementation. Moreover, the speaker will also examine and identify technical and policy gaps, and how technologies and digital solutions can be utilized to resolve ASEAN’s urban issues such as congestion, strained infrastructure, pollution, lack of affordable housing and socio-economic inequality, and improve ASEAN citizens’ quality of life.
City for All – Social Well-Being in Smart Cities
This session will emphasize on a truly smart city which uses technology and connectivity to enhance the daily lives and equitable access opportunities for all people. Cities should encourage connected communities through constructing smart buildings, innovating in the health care sector, improving processes and efficiencies for educational and using data to monitor and enhance social program.
Urban system integration and nature-based solutions for sustainability
Urban sustainability is about building cities that can operate efficiently, without wasteful depletion of resources. Reducing the negative impact of urbanization to local and global environment will be discussed in this session. Moreover, the speaker will focus on ways to increase local citizens’ contribution and involvement in urban development process in order to step towards urban sustainability.
Future Leaders in ASEAN Smart City
It is a session where the future of cities will be discussed. Panelists will share the most inspiring ideas for exploring our urban future, integrated with three dimensions: technology, environment and citizens’ quality of life. Moreover, the roles of city leaders will be brought to life on the stage in order to inspire participants to participate and collaborate for supporting the development of our cities.
Infrastructure of ASEAN's Future Smart Cities
The smart city concept aims at transforming urban infrastructure into smart infrastructure, which mean the transforming of the city into an eco-and socio friendly city that offers a high quality of life for citizens, including cost of living, jobs, safety, time and convenience, health, environmental quality, social and civic participation, health and well-being. In this session, our speaker will examine key questions: How can we plan and design cities for the future? Which infrastructure will help provide a better quality of life for citizens of today and future? What smart solutions will help create more sustainable city environment in the future?
Strategic Planning and Sustainable for Smart Cities
The session will focus on development strategies for smart city. Our speaker will analyze cities’ strengths and weaknesses and give examples on how to set priorities for action in terms of infrastructure, investments, technology integration, etc.
Smart City Lab Workshop:
Strategic Planning and Sustainable Development for Smart Cities
Participants will be able to attend one Lab Workshop according to their interest area. This 3-hour session is an immersive, hands-on experience that blends in theory and practice. It will let participants exchange ideas, address the most pressing challenges they are facing, and explore deeper about successful solutions around the ASEAN region. It is a valuable chance for the participants to catalyze productive conversations, establish partnerships, find solution providers, and consultants to support their smart sustainable city project. Each speaker will give insights to a specific project that he/she is undertaking. Inside the Smart City Lab Workshop, new perspectives will be emerged and new ideas will be generated.

Work Plans of the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership
Smart Cities – cities using data-driven technology to innovate and manage city resources, they are a key to sustainable development in both the United States and ASEAN. Speaker will share and exchange views on public and private sector as a smart city experts. Moreover, this session will explore U.S. commercial solutions to smart city challenges.
The Power of Collaboration for the Future of ASEAN Smart Cities
A smart city can be understood as a community in which citizens, institutions, business organizations and public sectors collaborate with one another to achieve systems integration and efficiency, citizen engagement, and a continually improving quality of life. This session will address the questions on how to build a collaborative and smart city, how we can involve all stakeholders to take different aspects of this work forward, what might be key elements that each segment of the community is looking for, and how to drive successful initiatives of collaboration.
